Senior Leadership Team

The Eminata Group is led by a core group of senior executives that have significant experience in the education industry, including senior management roles in both the public and private education fields.

Peter Chung, DHL
Executive Chairman

Peter Chung is a Vancouver-based entrepreneur with over 30 years of global experience in the fields of education, commerce, industry and real estate. Dr. Chung received his education from UCLA, Pepperdine University, California Polytechnic State University, Stanford and Harvard in the fields of Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering and Business Administration and Management. In 2003, Dr. Chung received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for his contribution to human welfare. In 2007, he was appointed Paraguay's  Honorary Consul to Canada and served in that post until 2011.  Dr. Chung currently serves on the boards of Pepperdine University and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Chung's humanitarian and charitable works include supporting and serving on the boards of Power to Change, Global Connections International and the Great Commission Foundation, amongst others. In 2008, through Lift Up Canada, Dr. Chung donated over a thousand scholarships for inner-city children to pursue post-secondary education. In 2008, he established the Joseph Chung Scholarship Fund at Regent College and in 2011 the Joseph Chung Endowment at Pepperdine University to assist those pursuing higher education in the field of special education.

In 1995, Dr. Chung founded the Eminata Group, a conglomerate of schools and health care facilities, to contribute to society by changing lives through education, service and care.

Randy Cox, BA
President & CEO

Randy Cox has significant experience in driving quantum growth in business and is considered a pioneer and leader in private education in Canada.  With over 15 years experience in the education industry, he has operated under the guidelines of regional and national accreditation in the United States as well as regional regulators in seven Canadian provinces. Prior to joining the Eminata Group, he was Vice-President of Corinthian Colleges Inc (NYSE: COCO). During this time, he was responsible for the company's Canadian division and developed the strategic plan for vertical and horizontal growth of CCI's investments in Canada. Additionally, Mr. Cox has held several executive positions with CDI Education Corporation, including Regional Vice-President roles in Ontario and Western Canada.

As a highly regarded growth specialist and strategic visionary, Mr. Cox’s drive for consultation and relationships with regulators, trade associations and industry has validated student success in the private education sector. His focus on quality in vision and action has led to a rise in prominence for private education in Canada.

Mr. Cox became President and CEO of the Eminata Group in February 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Victoria. He also holds network engineering, CNA and MCP certifications. He has served on the board of several prominent charities, as well as committees and boards in higher learning in both the US and Canada.

Dan Kriznic, CA
Chief Financial Officer

Dan Kriznic has served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer since January 2009. For seven years prior to that, as a Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP, he was the principal financial consultant and accountant for the Eminata Group, while also serving both the private and public sectors in the fields of education, forestry, retail and manufacturing. During his time at Deloitte he was involved in assurance, advisory, restructuring, consulting and tax planning. Mr. Kriznic has led the Eminata Group through various strategic school acquisitions and integrations, including CDI College and University Canada West. He also plays a key role in the company’s real estate group and has obtained financing for various commercial properties throughout North America. He was named one of Vancouver’s Top 40 under 40 for 2010 and holds various other business achievements and awards. He is currently President and Chairman of a Vancouver-based foundation that provides scholarships and bursaries to post-secondary students.

Mr. Kriznic received the Governor General Award for highest academic standing in his graduating class and is currently a Chartered Accountant. He is a member of the board of advisors of the executive mentorship program for the UBC Sauder School of Business as well as a member of the board of advisors for Learning Wise Education Inc.

Larry Heinzlmeir, MBA
Vice-President, Marketing

Larry Heinzlmeir brings with him more than twenty years of experience in higher education, in both the public and private sectors.  He has executive level experience is sales and marketing in all aspects of the sales cycle, with emphasis on effective planning, reporting, analysis, integration and execution toward developing high performance outcomes in both the profit and public sectors.  After starting his career with Nortel Networks in a number of engineering and management positions, Mr. Heinzlmeir spent 15 years with DeVry University (NYSE: DV), serving in several recruitment and marketing management positions for the university's Canadian division where student population grew more than 500%.  He then moved to the public sector as the Director of Corporate Training at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Under his direction, the school's "earned revenue" reached $31 million per year. After SAIT, he served six years with the Education Management Corporation (NYSE: EDMC) as the Regional Director of Admissions and Marketing for the Art Institute in Canada.  During his tenure at EDMC, he grew the west coast student population by in excess of 400%.  His special focus is turnaround and performance based marketing utilizing traditional and integrated web and new media strategies.  He’s also recognized as a high performance sales leader and has earned 26 national sales awards from several multibillion dollar North American based companies including seven number #1 and #2 annual sales leader awards.

He has sat on boards of and served as chair of several prominent chamber of commerce, professional associations and societies.

Mr. Heinzlmeir joined the Eminata Group in 2008 as Vice-President of Marketing where he oversees the marketing functions for all of the school brands. He is formally educated in telecommunication engineering and has an MBA with a focus on marketing.

Drew Lawrenson
Vice President, General Counsel

Drew Lawrenson is Vice President, General Counsel of the Eminata Group. Mr. Lawrenson is responsible for the Eminata Group’s worldwide legal affairs, as well as providing counsel to the Executive Chairman. In this capacity Mr. Lawrenson advises senior management regarding risk management, litigation, acquisition, contractual, environmental, property, personnel, legislative, ethics and corporate law issues.

Prior to his appointment as Vice President, General Counsel, Mr. Lawrenson was a senior associate with Webster Hudson & Coombe LLP in Vancouver, British Columbia. His practice focused on banking, corporate commercial and property law.

He is a practicing member of the Law Society of British Columbia, Chairman of the Canadian Bar Association Business Law Subsection (British Columbia), Director of the British Columbia Career College Association and serves as the Board Secretary for University Canada West.

Mr. Lawrenson received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Victoria in 2001 and a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2004.
